Working for and with Fibromyalgia across Scotland.

Fibromyalgia is a syndrome affecting the Central Nervous System. Fibromyalgia symptoms include chronic pain, muscle spasms, IBS  sleep disorders, there are around 200 symptoms of Fibromyalgia. The syndrome affects every area of a persons life physically; mentally; familally; occupationally; financially; and socially. A person living with Fibromyalgia will have periods of flares which are often associated with stress and trauma. Trauma has a very significant central role within Fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia does not discriminate and affects all ages in adulthood ( although there is a prevalence of Juvenile Fibromyalgia across the world) , genders, ethnicity and locality . It is believed that there are a minimum of 200-300,000 men and women living with Fibromyalgia across Scotland. This is likely to be growing as a result of covid where within the long covid spectrum, Fibrocovid has emerged. The development of Fibromyalgia as a result of having had covid. It is still early to fully assess the extent of this on our communities however Italian Researchers (2021) indicated that as many as 1/3rd of long covid is actually Fibrocovid. 

All items sold in this store has helped to raise money for the organisations services of Information, Advice, Education, Benefit and Welfare Advocacy, Peer support, workshops volunteering and Poverty and Wellbeing Outreach. Also our founded Fibro Awareness Week campaign inclusive of #lightupforfibro 8-15th May 2023.
